Product Description
Betanix® Designer Series quick-drying 100% acrylic
multi surface stain blocking primer is designed to be
resistant to mildew, corrosion, and tannin staining.
Formulated with excellent Anti-Mold™ and
Anti-Fungus™ properties to protect the paint film
only, for use over bleeding-type exterior treated
wood surfaces such as cedar, redwood and fir. May
also be used as a fast-drying primer for water and
oil base paints, or as a primer on masonry and clean,
aged, galvanized metal.


Performance Characteristics

o Do not contain Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers
o Excellent tannin and household stain blocking
o Excellent adhesion including alkyd surfaces
o Extremely good enamel holdout
o Easy clean-up with soap and water

 Surface Preparation 
Previously Painted Surfaces 
All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, 
wax, grease, oil, chalk, mildew and loose or peeling 
paint. For best adhesion, glossy surfaces should be 
lightly sanded. Nail holes, cracks or other surface 
imperfections should be properly filled, sanded 
smooth and dusted clean. Glossy surfaces must be 
sanded or deglossed and wiped clean. All bare areas
must be primed. All mold, mildew, and fungi must be 
completely and thoroughly removed and cleaned by 
using Betanix® 100.1 before painting. Always wear a
dust mask when sanding.
         
         

Wallboard and Plaster
When applying to new concrete, plaster or texture-
coated surfaces, allow the surface to cure properly.
All new drywall and plaster must be sealed with Primer
BX1000 Interior Wall Primer - Sealer before finish coat
.

Metal
All metal surfaces must be free of rust, grease, oil,
dirt and other foreign matter. If any loose or peeling
material is present, it must be thoroughly removed by
means of scraping, sanding or wire brushing. Prime
all bare spots with Primer BX 3000-R (Red) or BX3000-W
(White) 100% Acrylic Metal Primer.

 

 

New Wood
All bare wood must be sanded, wiped clean and
treated with BX 9000 Super Primer Wood Treatment
then prime the surface with Primer BX 2000 100%
Acrylic All Surface Primer or BX 1000 Wall
Primer - Sealer.

Masonry
When applying to new concrete, plaster or texture-
coated surfaces, allow the surface to cure properly.
New concrete and plaster must cure a minimum of 30
days. Check the pH of the surface, and apply
Primer BX 2000 100% Acrylic All Surface
Primer.

Application Suggestions
IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE APPLICATION:
If more than one package of the same color is to be
used, mix together before applying to ensure uniform
color and finish. Apply paint to a small test area on
surface for color approval before painting entire
surface.

STIR WELL BEFORE USING. May be applied by
brush, roller or spray. When spraying, follow spray
equipment manufacturer's recommendations
carefully. Apply only when the temperature of the
surface, material and air is above 50°F.

DO NOT ALLOW THIS PAINT TO FREEZE.
FREEZING MAY REDUCE THE QUALITY AND THE
PERFORMANCE OF THE PAINT.

System Suggestion
For maximum performance and better results follow
this suggested recommendation.

Two coats Primer - Sealer at 1.5 mils
DFT each coat and two coats Finish top
coat at 1.5 mils DFT each coat.

ventilation. Avoid breathing vapor, spray mist or
sanding dust. Sanding dust may cause eye and

Disposal Information
Dispose in accordance with all Federal, State and
local regulations. Please use all of the paint before
disposing of the container. If no paint can be poured
or drained from the container, dispose of the dry,
empty container as you would normal household
waste. Store any excess product in a tightly sealed
container away from heat or flames. To dispose of a
full or partially full container of paint, contact your
city or county government for hazardous materials
collection locations and operating hours. Do not
dispose of excess paint in any sanitary or storm
water sewer system.

Meets the performance requirements of Federal
Specification: TT-P-19D, TT-P-96 (not necessarily
composition)

DRY TIME: Dries in 30 minutes to one hour. Allow
four hours before recoating. Drying times depend
on surface texture, porosity, temperature and
humidity.
VOC: Contains less than 350 grams per liter VOC


DESIRED FILM THICKNESS:
Wet - 3.4 mils
Dry - 1.5 mils

COVERAGE: Approximately 300-400 square feet
per gallon depending on surface texture and
porosity.

CLEAN UP: Clean brushes, rollers and equipment
with soap and water. Clean spills and spatter
immediately.
